The Greek word for “seal” is Sphragizo:
to put a mark on an object to show possession, authority, identity or security.
I do not want to provide a lot of commentary this week. I am drawn to the meaning of the word sealed. In my western theology, I have thought of “being sealed” by the Holy Spirit as an eternal promise …. “I am secure to make it to Heaven”. This is true. Yet, as I look at the full definition, it encompasses more than a reserved spot in Heaven. It also has an earthly tone (an everyday promise) as well. It’s my identity. I KNOW God. He dwells with me. I am ONE with Him. Jesus has revealed the Father to me. I am the righteousness of God.
I invite you to read through this week’s verses several times. Be open to more understanding of your sealed
Identity. Ask the Lord to illuminate the revelation of your beloved identity.
